This course is ideal for learners progressing from the Level 3 Award in Hydrogen Applications and Technologies or those with accredited qualifications at Level 3 or above who are interested in the application of hydrogen systems and technologies.
Course Content

Most of this course is delivered online, with learning and assessment materials available 24/7 via the College’s online learning platform. This allows you to complete the course around your existing work commitments and progress at your own pace. You will be given advanced notice of the session(s) where you will attend the college to complete practical assessments.

Assessment Methods
The course is delivered through a blend of online learning and laboratory practical tasks. Most of the theory is delivered online and assessed through a portfolio of evidence, with learners required to attend the Ballymena campus for at least one full day to complete tutor-led practical demonstrations and observations. The proposed dates for the practical sessions will be shared on the first day of the course or during pre-enrolment.
Course Update
This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.
Funding is subject to approval.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must be a resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK.
- Learners must have GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent) and hold a Level 3 qualification or have at least five years of relative experience in industry.
- Where students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions. APEL applications must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the start date of the programme. More details can be found in the APEL Policy.

The OCN NI Level 5 Award in Green Technologies will allow learners to progress to the OCN NI Level 5 Certificate and Extended Certificate in Green Technologies. From there learners may progress to higher level qualifications in the area of environmental conservation and green technologies or into employment.
